I suspect that the original thesis among many Republican office holders was that the virus would kill more people of color than white people, so the best political path was to sow vaccine doubt. Now that it appears that more people are getting sick in Republican strongholds they fear that more Republicans will be hurt that Democrats, so it is time to get onboard the vaccine train.

The same reasoning likely applies to Fox, as having your viewers die is not good for ratings and advertisers.

The Republican holdouts will be the true Chump cultists, who, like Chump, could care less how many people die of whatever political persuasion. They use their stance to raise money off of the ignorant and the stupid.
