Your little device connects to a local cell phone tower which needs to be connected to a fiber line backhaul. Without those two items your "little device" is a useless piece of electronic junk. The "economic level" of cell phone towers and fiber backhaul is not up to the task in many parts of the US, particularly rural parts, which greatly limits economic growth. Australia meets this with a combination of increased minimum speed coverage mandates coupled with financial assistance to broadband providers or communities directly. We're about to do the same. It's like expecting people living in neighborhoods of apartment buildings to purchase electric cars without any place to charge their automobiles. Putting a charger in your garage sounds simple, except where there's no garage and people park on the street. Green growth needs to expand beyond the world of elitism to also encompass the real world where a huge number of Americans live.
