When we took a cruise (never again) - they had "Internet" - it was implemented as WiFi but literally all we could access was email and even that was not very reliable. It was like they plumbed their ship to my house's router but had 2000 people connected to it. In theory - you had access - but practically speaking even with a $100 upgrade it was still for shit.

I had to re-install Linux on my computer and even with most of the software on the USB - it took all night to download a few megabytes worth of files that the installer wanted to put on.

Your connection must be a lot better than you think. I get up into the Sierra and good luck - 2G at best and it is pricey for roaming. . I go without or connect via a personal router at a local hotspot. My brother couldn't even text me after leaving Yosemite.
