I was a sophomore in h.s. when that shit went down.. not odd, it was a topic of conversation because we were at the height of the
so- called Cold War with the Soviets.
Quite a few of us immediately were given to the idea the CIA was involved in it.. but for whatever reason, we were clueless of the why.
Looking back, the CIA 'offed' a lot of people who got in their business/ political way of being. I do not think there was a "love- of- country"
as their main theme.
