Musya/MT - Before everybody gets totally bummed out about this news, lets make sure everybody understands the process. I haven't read The State's article yet, but I am quite sure all that happened was the SC House Ways & Means Committee voted to go along with Gov. Beasley's proposal to delete VGM money from the state budget. This does NOT mean Beasley has won! Not by a long shot!!!! There are still MILES to go in the legislative process before this idea becomes reality. This may still have other committees to get through and certainly must AT LEAST go to the full House for a vote. And that is just on the House side of things! The proposal must also survive a similar process in the Senate which, by all accounts, is likely to be much less sympathetic to Gov. Beasley on this issue. There is a long way to go on this one, folks. TKA
