Re <<Infections happen in only a small proportion of people who are fully vaccinated, even with the Delta variant.>>
Which news flow to believe? In my mind Reuters is a big huge suspect, but CNN is much worse, for Reuters appeared to know it was lying when lying, and CNN appeared to believe in its own lies.
Maybe best we get guidance from the aggregate financial markets and get a hint that way, assuming we can understand the message.
Do not know and remaining agnostic.
The earlier news flow divergence now evolved into diametrical counter-flows, between suspect Reuters and CNN.
Unless of course that ‘less than 1%’ is more or less the same as ‘like wildfire’, depending on political persuasion. A few more weeks ought to tell us more accurate reports, because summer nearly over.
Yesterday the kids school e-mailed that primary and middle school shall go half-day when opens in 2-weeks time. The e-mail reached us the same time as the government announcement, that schools can go physical as long as 70% vaccinated. I suppose it is possible that the two guidance vectors are not in conflict. Shall know for sure in 2-weeks, of that I am sure.
Currently what is appears true in my mind is, …
- the virus is worse than common flu, and may exhibit same seasonality patterns
- better than SARS-2003
- can kill as well as maim
- has some LT consequences, and cumulatively unknown
- catching the virus does not preclude catching it again
- vaccine does something, but only if one continues to take cautions after vaccination
- vaccination itself has issues, and might be cumulative in nature
- vaccine defenses might or might not have been breached already, or might even be making the viral attack worse
- social distancing / masking protocol obviously works well, but cannot be a LT solution even if it is the only solution
Did I miss anything?
If not, then under the above described circumstances the best one can do is to wait for more news, and take precautions in the meantime.
