Re rfa.org <<Local Government in Gansu Shuts Down Tibetan Temple, Evicts Monks, Nuns>>
... very problematic re the suspicious RFA story especially in the current context of what is considered journalism, that which is weaponised, political, and of the deep-state
My observations re the Gansu monasteries are several, and ...
- as they are collectively run (by the occupants) and receiving large numbers of visitors (tourists and faithfuls), they are in danger of covid and just like schools and such, must be kept clean and free of virus else events can go out of hands in a hurry
- there have been many suspicious stories put out in the past about what is and is not happening in China from the freedom of religion angle, and generally they come in two flavours, that (i) China is destroying religious institutions, and (ii) China is jailing religious faithfuls. Some photos are offered up, out of context and undated, that could be of anything anywhere anytime.
I am naturally suspicious about any systematic destruction of any religious institutions in that the CCP can build on a scale unimaginable, as well as destroy on a scale unimaginable, all without using machines such as B52s and devices such be Mother of all Bombs, and yet we are to believe that there be always more mosques and monasteries and temples to destroy, over the eons. Goes to reason, that either the CCP is stymied, or the CCP is not destroying.
I am not aware of any official policy to destroy any religious institutions in China, but as far as I know they are not supposed to proselytise, and they are not to intone extremism, just as folks are not supposed to form network marketing entities and then hijack such for whatever purpose. Most religious institutions are in compliance, I would imagine.
That above noted, China is against Falun Gong and the like en.wikipedia.org . Such are present on the streets of Hong Kong and they are comprised of folks who are best avoided as far as I am concerned. But then I am not religious in that way even though likely more faithful than many anywhere.
China mainland considers Falun Gong a cult, and suspects it is another CIA-seeded organisation. I can see why China does not want Falun Gong to go wild and be inside of governmental organisations. I am agnostic as to whether Falun Dafa is or not a cult, but can see the why's possible from enough angles.
Particular to Gansu Tibetan monasteries, here is a video from which the photograph was clipped
... and it looks like (1) there is no police presence, (2) some women folks about, (3) lots of crying, (4) no forced anything, and given that some folks are wearing masks and most are not, I am guessing that the video is either very early 2020, or perhaps but less likely now.
Other observations, that the folks are well fed, healthy, cleanly attired, and the monastery is well kept and features aluminium window frames.
An event to do with vaccination? or evacuation for disinfectant purpose? Who knows. Shut down temple and evicting monks and nuns to return to secular life? Doubtful to the point of suspicious.
Here is another RFA story rfa.org <<Travel Restrictions Announced at Tibetan Monastery in Gansu Ahead of Major Religious Festival>>
Why am I not surprised? That travel restrictions are put in place, when travel restriction are put in place all over, and for reasons we can guess at.
During normal, pre-pandemic times, Gansu Tibetan monastery looks so ....
Report from the grassroots on any number of subjects are useful as triangulation points.
... and given RFA funding, it is definitely a suspect in mis- / alt- info ecosystem that also features the CIA Tibetan Program en.wikipedia.org sponsored by the DNC and GOP and the CCP.
I tend to discount stories originating from entities whose motives are questionable and who has a track record of untruths.
The CIA Tibetan program was a nearly two decades long anti-Chinese covert operationfocused on Tibet which consisted of "political action, propaganda, paramilitary and intelligence operations" based on U.S. Governmentarrangements made with brothers of the 14th Dalai Lama, who was not initially aware of them. The goal of the program was "to keep the political concept of an autonomous Tibet alive within Tibet and among several foreign nations".[1]
Although it was formally assigned to the CIA, it was nevertheless closely coordinated with several other U.S. government agencies such as the Department of State and the Department of Defense.[2]
Is also why over the eons I have never bothered with watching & briefing re apparent Israeli and US state-sanctioned ops against religious institutions and infrastructure such as ... because the context cannot be summed up in a photo or a video clip
