With an average daily volume in January of 38610, that means the additional 223245 shares shorted in January represent 5.8 trading days of the 20 total (in the US)... in other words, 12% of the traffic last month was to people shorting the stock. Actually, the percentage shorted is much higher than that since shares actually changing hands over the NASDAQ get counted twice.
