"At this point, Cisco no longer faces any real competitive challenges within the data-networking market," he (Lindsay) wrote. "In contrast, Cisco's biggest risk is that it needs to enter new markets that can support its historical growth rates. ... Since there aren't many new market opportunities that are large enough to achieve this objective, it would seem that the voice/telecom market is one of Cisco's only options."
