Yeah, thats my kind of camping these days as the years pile up :-)

Great interview with Scott Walker although I disagree with his view on shiney metals. Just one big CME by the Sun and all those transistors and most of those cryptos get fried. Whats the back up?

I was out for a walk today. Apart from Cattle and sheep I didn't see anybody. The hills are almost empty of people. Where I walked there were farms even up to the 1950's and 1960's. The ruins are still there, the ones shown provided a living for five families.

This is the first time I managed to get out for a proper walk since I moved. Seriously out of shape. This type of exercise should sort it though. I did see one person, a hill runner, super crazy but but very fit person.

I was just glad to get back in one piece. Even just out walking it's too easy to twist or break a bone in an unexpected gully hidden in the heather, and then you can be seriously stuck. No way would I attempt a fast walk, never mind running.

Most of these photos were taken to identify the position of landmarks to help me find the way back. GPS is OK, but not reliable just when you really need it. In future I will keep a compass with me. Everything is wonderful until the visibility goes down to 25 yards, and that can easily happen in 30 minutes.

Going downhill can be tricky if lost, vertical drops can suddenly be encountered. A bit like crypto I suppose :-)
