FWIW- I have it right now and I didn't take the shot. Definitely far from the worst thing I've ever had, but certainly not fun. First time I've been sick for, maybe, ten years(?) I know four other people who have it right now- two who took the shot and two who didn't. The two who took it are much worse off and have made several trips to the ER for various issues. One is in his thirties and the other is around my age (60).Not exactly a scientific study, I know. Some might be interested to know that I contracted both mumps and scarlet fever as a kid, despite having been vaccinated for both. They were actual vaccines, AFAIK.
