Don't trust India data. Check anecdotally. Ask any Indian origin person in the US about how many people in their circle of contacts in India have had covid and how many have died. And ask the same questions about their circle of contacts in the USA. And the count will be much higher for India than USA. On the other hand, all official figures indicate that deaths per million from Covid in India are one tenth of USA.
