It's a mistake to compare the United States on a equal footing as an "Empire" as was Rome, GhengisKhan, the Ottomans, the Brits & French centuries ago, the
stinking Nazis & stinking Soviets, or today's China. We are better than that. I think it safe to say we are not a nation builder by conquest since 1898. We do not invade
other nations for a ground gain.

it's obvious watching the fall of Kabul that a lot of soul searching is going to happen.. most of all reaching the wrong conclusions. The wealth of nationhood depends
on good governance. In the most fortunate of circumstances, things go right. Sometimes less so. Sometimes totally wrong. This is life... trial & error. It is the standard,
the mark of success, that gives credence to what makes countries successful.

Post WW2 witnessed the economic & political strength of America. Our infrastructure was intact. The Truman Doctrine & Marshall Plan 'rescued' Western Europe.
In Japan, MacArthur enacted economic, social, political reforms.
To put things in perspective, we did not occupy to hold.

This is the greatness of the United States.
