Lindsay, Since you asked, my personal estimate for 3rd qtr. earnings is $0.02. Without getting into the calculation detail, here are my basic assumptions (as compared to the 2nd qtr): Overall sales slowed slightly. ZIP sales slowed. JAZ sales increased significantly. ZIP disk tie rate slowed significantly. Europe remained weak. OEM sales increased, but not yet a major factor. Gross margins decreased. Shares outstanding increased. Operations expenses increased significantly. R&D expenses increased. Finished goods inventory increased. Accounts payable decreased slightly. Accounts receivable increased slightly. And, the rebate was the real killer; I'm estimating that Iomega will account for rebates on 400,000 of 750,000 ZIPs sold in the 3rd quarter. A wild card here is whether they will put aside any cash in advance of next quarter's rebates. I assume they will not, based on the probability of a much better 4th qtr and the need to show positive earnings in the 3rd qtr. Lindsay, please keep in mind that this is just my best guess and history (and my 1040) will tell you that I'm wrong more than I'm right when it comes to Iomega. Regards - Dale.
