I visited two Chicago retailers this weekend and was not impressed at the rack-jobbing that SKEY is doing. I've been in and out of this stock for years (I have no position in it now). Compusa as recently as 6 months ago had a very nice "push cart and umbrella" with SKEY titles, plus the Titanium Seal rack and, I believe, another rack. Today - there are NO racks with SKEY titles, remaining titles are in a bin with all other titles from all other companies. Same old titles (but fewer) in the shelved area which were around last year. The SKEY rack at Elek-Tek - a national direct mail company with a few stores in Chicago - had as many IMSI and Expert titles as SKEY titles. I went shopping for some clip-art and clip-photo titles and ended up buying 2 IMSI, 1 Expert and 1 SKEY. Since SKEY hired dedicated rack-jobbers to maintain their racks and restock them a couple years ago, I am amazed at the poor maintenance at these stores. And I haven't received a direct mail solicitation from SKEY in a couple months, and I used to get them regularly. How can they grow this way?
