It's not Mr. Biden's lack of a plan. Nobody had a plan. There is no plan to be had if anyone had wanted one. The only alternative was to stay in Afghanistan No surge, or bombing campaign, or negotiation, or Loya jirga was going to make a bit of difference. The US could either stay, or get out, no matter who was president. Biden just recognized that fact.
