I ran marathons on the Continental team (mostly all pilots) Back in the early 2000's, they referred to it as "The Jurassic Jet).

Loud and not fuel efficient, but some pilots just loved flying them.

If you were younger and lower on seniority, you could hold being a Captain on a 737.

The captains with a lot of seniority always bid for the long 757 and 777 flights.

They would get all of their months hours in on 3 to 4 long trips with a day off in between return flights.

Those were the days!
