The battle may just be beginning. Microsoft will have to fight on several fronts. Although Microsoft usually wins their battles they have been know to GET PIE IN FACE on some occasions as well, ie Citrix, Stack Electronics, Lotus Notes, etc.

I like the synergy of RNWK and the partnerships they are making not to mention the recent Sun marketing agreement. Now that RNWK has ported their server software to Unix their product has serious potential of becoming THE industrial strength server software for video/audio streaming on the internet and intranets.
RNWK server software now has a scalable solution that supports multi platforms from Novell to NT to Unix.

Once ported to Unix (Solaris) it will be very easy to move to other flavors of Unix such as Lynix, HP UX, IBM AIX,SCO, DEC etc. As well as NT is selling, Unix still dominates the mid-range because of its ability to scale and cluster something MS NT still only dreams about. I hope to see further developments with Sun. Sun is the leader in multi-media and graphic workstations and servers and this should hold additional value to this new partnership with RNWK.

It also seems to me that Oracle should have an interest in teaming with RNWK as well.

Lastly, I wonder where the DOJ is in their investigation of Microsoft's investments in streaming technology companies???

Thanks for the tid-bit.

SA

PS I am still looking for an announcement of RNWK's server software running on CISCO's micro-server and a major cable company contract.
