You did not mention Trump's role in this... Trump opposed the Democrats/Republicans "Deep State" interest in perpetual war... committed to extracting us from Afghanistan... and DID extract us from Afghanistan... without fucking it up. He didn't screw it up... because he listened to the military people and those at State telling him "what is" and adjusted to account for it... while Biden simply IGNORED what the people who KNEW had to say. Under Trump, the Taliban remained essentially inconsequential... as we drew down to 2,500 troops... while keeping the peace... with far FEWER troops there than have been there since, and are there today ? No U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan were killed in the last 18 months of Trump's Presidency ? There wasn't really any pressing reason to withdraw the rest... ? Afghans were doing just fine with that tiny contingent providing support. As long as the "support" remained... the Afghan Army was more than holding its own against the Taliban. The DISASTER of the Biden approach... ended the ability of the Afghan Army to function... and did that before even THINKING about withdrawing those who should have been withdrawn FIRST ? It's all on Biden... and its purely Biden's incompetence... that of his people... because he selected the WRONG people, based on critieria OTHER THAN competence... because Biden's woke rainbow warriors are navel gazers who get people killed by being stupid... and don't know how to do their jobs... All that had to happen to NOT fuck it up... was to proceed to withdraw the American's and others, the civilians, contractors, etc., who needed to be withdrawn... Biden had from January 20 until AUGUST to accomplish that... and just didn't do it... because brain dead.
