Simple answers to complex problems seems to be the American way and they are usually wrong.
I cannot believe so many can't see that this evacuation has been a total shit show from every perspective possible.
My primary concern is the humanitarian issue, that we have condemned and entire country of 38 million half of whom are children that know no other life, to suddenly have to live a life of pure terror.
Children are always innocent, but they will be the primary one's who will have to endure sooo much terror, and they are half the population!!
Why doesn't that bother others I wonder??
But I have seen too much lack of empathy among humans over my long life to be surprised.
And let's look at some of the other considerations!
84% of the people want Biden to stay until all Americans are out and 71% want us to stay until all our allies are out. And 59% think he has handled this badly.
Phillip Bump just wrote that based on historical records, given Biden's low approval rating we Democrats, and i am a hard core Democrat who will never have anything to do with the Republican party, Could LOSE 30 seats in the house.
So if we dems lose control of the house and senate because of this, tell me again why it was worth it.
As well, we have also lost our intelligence of the terrorists for the entire region. The Afghan army was supplying us with good intelligence and having eyes on the ground invaluable, that is now gone.
And, we have created a hot bed not only for terrorist groups like the Taliban, Isis and Al Qaeda, but also powerful terrorist groups in Pakistan the Taliban, Isis and others are aligned with.
Biden did this all on his own, going against his military, Pentagon, and intel agencies.
Last, the Republicans are going to bludgeon us with this mistake e.g. where will he put the hundreds of thousands of refugees, without pissing people off, and how much will it cost? The Republicans will scare people saying there are terrorists amongst them.
The Republicans now have an issue they can beat us over the head with day after day and we dems will have to defend.
Lest we forget, Biden has a history of bad decisions and lack of empathy e.g.:
He threw Anita Hill under the bus which gave us Clarence Thomas, and the workers under the bus when he decided in favor of the credit card industry that they they could not get rid of that debt under chapter seven bankruptcy, and he also threw the kids under the bus with his onerous sentencing legislation, and last he bragged about voting to uphold the right wing Hyde amendment 40 times over the last 40 years plus, which discriminated against poor women, and especially poor women of color, because he is a Catholic and does not approve of abortion.
He only quit when it became clear he had to, to run for president. He never saw the light, he was forced to do it.
If we lose the house and senate to the Republicans in 2022, will it be worth it?

I'm sorry, but if everyone knew this was what would happen, then why didn't everyone stand up over the past 20 years? It would not have been possible for the Taliban to act if everyone was against them. I think what is happening is horrible but we have had the great help of 4 US Presidents and were getting nowhere. I don't know how trapped Biden was by Trump's agreement and any other things he did so I don't know how much of this exodus disaster is his "fault". |
