First I do follow knowledgeable people because they are the teachers...

That's actually not how the world works...

And, it does nothing at all to help resolve your issue... with not knowing what's true... as the same problems exist in whether or not what they teach is right ? Or, even remotely close to right ?

Most of it isn't...

For most of them... if they were actually good at $whatever$ they wouldn't be teachers ? What they are teaching you... is stuff they didn't figure out... but stuff OTHER PEOPLE did... ? And the teachers also mostly can't tell what's right, anyway... they're just doing what someone else said to do ? It's those other people that are the only ones worth listening to... since they're the ones who do actually know how to figure stuff out ?

Why aren't they teaching you how to tell what is true and what is not ?

Why would you "follow" anyone... who can't ?

Otherwise why attend an engineer college if you think you are capable of figuring everything out yourself.

Yeah. That's what Bill Gates thought, too... and he was right...

The education system is mostly dumb, and it tends to reward participants for agreeing to be made dumb.

Good luck with that on your resume.

There's no luck involved. My resume is packed with things I figured out for myself... that no one else had figured out before...

And, most of that isn't just because I'm smart enough to do that ? It's because I'm smart enough to not be forced into the mold that intends to apply limits to everyone... all others... and mostly succeeds.

You choose your own limits... including that allowing others to choose them for you is a choice.
