Many different things are in peril: any person who helped the U. S., women who want to be treated as equal human beings, freedom, democracy, the rule of law.
Most Americans assign a higher value to the life of their dog, than an Afghan civilian. This is an old story. 200 years ago, a valuable horse could expect better medical care than a slave. That attitude persists.
If the US wants to be the leader of the Free World, we need to consistently champion Life. Human life, from conception to grave. All life, regardless of race or nationality. All life, regardless of species. Destroying life, or disregarding the value of life, is evil.
