Are you aware that the probable new leader is a mullah who gave a blessing to his own son being a suicide bomber, and intends to rule the country with an iron fist of hard line Sharia law, which means categorical abuse of women.
Its potential is horrible. One hopes we can apply diplomatic and economic pressures along with regional powers to shape a better future than you describe. Hopefully the Afghan people, women too, will still rise up as in other countries.

But you can't evacuate a country -- so the choice involved escalating the ground and bombing war in order to destroy the Taliban, fighting for a corrupt government. With all the usual collateral damage.

You do not speak about the consequences of escalation. We could have "won" the war in Vietnam too, with more bombings, genocide and millions more dead. We coulda "nuked the north" as some hawks called for.

What would Bernie Sanders have done based on the Trump negotiated May withdrawal?

Biden potentially saved hundreds of thousands of lives by pulling the troops out. No allied strategy was without tragedy. Biden made a courageous choice for now, without regard to political fallout especially from FoxNews but also from his left. Isn't that "promises kept"? Don't people prefer a President who is not driven by politics and perceptions?

The best thing American people can do now is to open our doors to refugees, will you support that?
