Interesting analogy. However, if you quit paying your mortgage, they take your house, which is (99 percent of the time) at least worth what you paid for it.

However, if FAMH can't pay its debts, look for the stock to sink. What could the venture capitalist do then? Sell 40 million shares? To whom? BB stock is pretty poor collateral. If you don't believe me, go to your bank and try to get a loan on your FAMH holdings.

Also, people aren't really issued mortgages on the value of the house. They are issued mortgages on their present and assumed continuing income. Take an unemployed 70-year-old mortgage shopping sometime. Good luck getting one.
