Impossible to precisely answer that, but I will try.

A Democrat (capital D) is a member of a diverse coalition that is in opposition to the fundamentals of the modern global and national right wing.

There is a broad spectrum of party opinion any specific policy; but general agreement to the (somewhat unattainable) goals like justice for all, opportunity for all, help for the disabled, and maximized freedom for all where it doesn't harm others. A generally open society with separation of church authoritarianism and constitutional state as in stated in the First Amendment. Plus support for science and sustainable technology in the modern age.

One can always find fault with an edge Democrat right-or-left on specific issues.
