It's not intrusive, if you want the 5% discount. You pay for paying with a non-Prime card number, you don't even need to use the card if you link (scan) to a QR code. Or have it in a "wallet".

The 5% may be Whole Foods only.

Local law seems to make everyone pay the card fees, and prohibit discounts for cash.

The store gets to have bare minimum costs.
