Heuristics have their uses. If we knew how to solve every problem from nothing but theory, then I would agree with you about ARQL's methods, and drug companies would have no use for ARQL's services. But we don't, I don't, and they do.

No, just the opposite. j dimensions of the search space are fixed, or at least relatively constrained, by any "thoughtful" design process.
