Here's the sales history for 1997:

From their 1Q97 report:" At company restaurants, sales grew 9.5 percent to $291 million in the first quarter, compared with $266 million in the same quarter a year ago. Systemwide, sales improved to $401 million for the quarter, or 8.7 percent. Per store average (PSA) sales at comparable company restaurants increased 6.5 percent in the first quarter on top of the 10.9 percent increase experienced in the first quarter last year. Customer visits to Jack in the Box restaurants increased 7.5 percent, more than offsetting the impact of discounting that led to an average check decline of 1 percent."

From their 2Q97 report: "Sales at company-operated restaurants grew 10.6 percent to $223.8 million in the second quarter compared with a year ago, while systemwide sales improved 9.5 percent to $304 million. There was a slight decline in overall revenues of 1.2 percent to $247 million, due to lower distribution sales primarily as a result of franchisees using their own purchasing cooperative formed more than a year ago...Nugent noted. 'By maintaining our strategy, we've continued our positive momentum, which led to a 7.8 percent increase in per store average sales at comparable company restaurants. Customer visits increased 5.2 percent and average check increased 2.6 percent.'"

From the 3Q97 report: "Sales at company-operated restaurants grew 12.3 percent to nearly $235 million during the third quarter compared with the same quarter a year earlier, while systemwide sales improved 10.5 percent to $317.1 million. Total revenues increased 3.5 percent to $251.7 million in spite of a decline in distribution sales. Average check amounts rose 2.2 percent in the third quarter compared with a decline of 1.6 percent during the same period a year ago. Simultaneously, customer visits grew 5.5 percent beyond the 6.8 percent growth experienced in the third quarter last year."

From the 4Q97 report: "Continuing its record performance, the company also reported its eleventh consecutive quarter of increased per store average (PSA) sales at comparable company restaurants. PSA sales grew 4.2 percent in the fourth quarter, and 6.5 percent for the year. Company-restaurant sales reached nearly $237 million in the fourth quarter, an improvement of 10.3 percent compared with the fourth quarter a year ago. Systemwide sales increased 7.4 percent in the fourth quarter to $317 million, and almost 9 percent for the year to more than $1.3 billion. Fourth quarter revenues grew 4.4 percent to nearly $250 million compared with the fourth quarter a year ago. Customer visits improved 2 percent in the fourth quarter compared with the same quarter a year ago, and 5.1 percent for the year. Average check amounts grew 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter compared with the same quarter a year ago, and 1.4 percent during the year compared with the previous fiscal year."

And finally, this from the most recent report: "Company restaurant sales grew to $325 million during the quarter, an increase of 11.7 percent compared with the same quarter last year. Systemwide sales improved 7.7 percent to $431 million. Total revenues grew 6.3 percent to about $344 million. Per store average (PSA) sales at comparable company restaurants increased 2.7 percent, as customer visits grew compared to the prior year. Average check amounts were flat compared with last year's first quarter."

Last year, JITB was just starting to roll out a new technology at its drive-thru order boards, a large LCD screen that displayed the customers order as it was being taken. This reduces confusion and improves speed and accuracy. I don't know if they have been installed in your market, but they should help with efficiency.
