Tom D, Compaq's Build to Order (BTO)Program is a direct sales program (2-3 weeks of inventory hence savings get passed on) and almost entire Europe and Asia is converted to that model of selling. Within the US it will be completed by Q2 98. Coupled with a strong national and international sales and support team of DEC CPQ is becoming the choice for enterprises to get all their computing needs taken care of (Large file servers, transaction servers, desktops, UNIX machines). Dell is definitely going to acquire a company to boost their sales and support organization to compete and that will throw a spanner in their low cost high growth engine room as they deal with the burden and uncertainty of an acquisition.
