Chowder,

When you were building out these portfolios initially, with income being the main focus as opposed to total returns and capital appreciation, were you still buying when stocks were showing strong price performance, or were you more value oriented? Buying safe growing dividend stocks at lower prices for perhaps better starting yields?

I am still in the phase where growing the income to the target goals is the focus, and buying into stocks that are showing more price momentum feels a bit contrary to my goals. LMT for example is showing poor performance drifting down over 10%, but it has a safe growing dividend and a good history, and I am averaging down costs and averaging up yields. Would that have been more like you would have done at inception?

Thanks.
