A good friend of mine, who used to work on satellites at Hughes, told me today that he thought there are usually as many as 100 people working on any one satellite, which would seem to fit well with the discontinuation of work on 3 satellites (300 layoffs). The additional rumor of 400 more layoffs, would seem either extreme or dire depending on your perspective (4 more satellites undeliverable. . .). Let's hope for a less windy morning tomorrow.
