Here is the Southwest, we have a capacity to mix English with Spanish, creating redundant couplings of words such as "Table Mesa" as a place name (among many types of such examples). Few people ever notice.

So, for your example to be more acceptable, perhaps the writer could have written, "...modicum poco..." and escaped a few more critical eyes.

Gee, that's almost lyrical, isn't it; "modicum poco"?
