Someone had posted a chart showing the growth on one of these threads.

The unfortunate aspect is that medicine is not alone. Every industry has been hit with a much greater regulatory responsibility / additional reporting requirements.

I worked in Financial Services my whole career. The number of people dealing with Compliance / additional reporting and other regs, AML KYC, 1099, (exchange reporting etc. A lrge part of our annual budget went to system changes to comply with new regs. They didn't just come from the feds, but states, SRO's and internal "regulators. It got harder to hire new employees. The length of time from posting to hiring went up by about 200% in my tenure.

Clients complained about a lot of the regs often. The inetrnal people were the worst actually but they were mandated by the regs. They didn't understand the business and often made rules that were onerous for clients and employees.

Every time I heard about HRC's private server, I about puke. We spent millions just to store e-mails so we could send them off to the feds at their whim.
