My thinking wasn't so much about drive capacity as it was about long-term durability on the small form factor drive and also cooling the edge by using an external drive. BTW I also bought my Edge from Weakness.

I also upgraded both of my Tivo XL models to TB drives but they are now both in storage and just use Edge and Mini Lux,
