Yes, there probably is a good case for that since the Pro Football Hall of Fame lets in a relatively high percentage of players compared to the Baseball Hall of Fame, where only about 1.5% of players make it in.

The Baseball HOF numbers also include all the Veteran's Committee players who got voted in by their cronies. It's nonsense, of course, but so many players that really wouldn't make it in based on their stats get a second chance. Take them away and even fewer players would be there.
