What about luxury watches that keep time worse than my cell phone? What is your store of value? Real Estate? Stocks? Gold? Aren't these all wasting a lot more energy? "Wasting energy" could be said of the lifestyle, belongings, hobbies, or work of every person living in the First World. Crypto is barely even a blip on the energy usage map of humanity. And in principle - it is less destructive than looking for other rare things that we routine blast or drill looking for - seeking that one rare thing we want amongst the dross.
