From an S&P tearsheet...
If these are two different companies, it would be an interesting coincidence. Especially in the telecom area. Probably privately held refers to it as being a wholly owned subsidiary and not separately traded. Let me know if you read it differently.
Thanks.
From S&P:
"Cycomm's historical business focus has been on providing security for voice and data transmission over wireless systems, particularly to cellular telephone end users. Through recently acquired subsidiaries, the company has leveraged its core competencies to manufacture and sell a full line of secure, ruggedized computer products for the military, utility and public safety markets.
The Cycomm Corp. subsidiary, located in Portland, OR (formed in 1985), provides security scrambling of voice, data and facsimile for the wireless and wireline telecommunications industry.
The XL Computing Corp. subsidiary, located in Sebastian, FL (acquired in March 1996), produces ruggedized, TEMPEST computer and communication equipment for niche markets worldwide.
The XL Computing Canada Inc. subsidiary, located in Montreal (formed through the June 1996 acquisition of M3i Technologies Inc.), produces ruggedized mobile computing and communications systems primarily to the utility and public safety markets.
The Val-Comm subsidiary, located in Albuquerque, NM (formed in 1984), provides feasibility studies for possible development projects and custom communications equipment developed for classified U.S. government agencies.
CYI disposed of its 25.5% interest in Galactica, a telecommunications systems integration and distribution company located in Venezuela, in early 1997 for about $1 million." |
