The biggest deal with Aware is that they have licensing agreements with a lot of important players. But in some cases like PairGain those agreements seem to be just hedges for the case that other planned activities don't work. PairGain does now seem to have its own chipset ready and therefore I think they will abandon their Aware relationship.
