Blockchain is just a DB technology ... a distributed DB that is fraud-resistant .

Remember "Plastics!" in The Graduate? Kind of true - if you had invested in plastics then - you would have done well.

Computers were thought to be able do all sorts of things - some of which they did, some of which was imagined and some things we never wanted (e.g. fraud).

Insert "blockchain" into any sentence about any technology (communication, transport, energy production) of the past and it will have the similar profile of hype, real functions, and misapplication as any prior tech - the nouns and verbs may be different but the adverbs and adjectives will be similar.
