The Vietnam War was a classic example of a country that stopped thinking. It was based on the domino theory (a fallacy) that Ike came up with that said if S. Vietnam fell, Asia and Europe would fall. The only way to test the theory was for the US to lose the war, which is what we did and communism in the USSR fell, the opposite of what four presidents believed (two were war heroes).

All that happened before Watergate when the president was almost godlike. No one dared question him. Now, it's the opposite, everyone questions him even when he's 100% right because now it's about getting the most views, the most clicks etc.

Our media panders to the lowest common denominator or the dumbest person in the group. They just happen to be republicans.

Regarding the Squad. Manchin and Biden were against ending the filibuster because they said they could get republican votes. They got one. They'll never get another. They got one small bill so now republicans can stop anything else. Given a choice between a well educated Squad and moderates who are easily played, I'll pick the Squad.

Btw, the Squad is willing to stop the one bill that passed in the Senate because Pelosi and Biden promised both bills would be linked. Biden says he takes a man at his word and then he broke his word.
