If you think about the "talk" between people of wildly dissimilar beliefs (and I do mean "beliefs"- because some people accept something as basic as science and some people do not- unless it agrees with their already held beliefs)- you will find absolutely nothing is accomplished by "talking". I've looked at the unmoderated boards. This is what happens:
Person A says something demonstrably wrong.
Person B goes and gets factual proof.
Person A disputes proof- and brings up ANOTHER topic (they might be wrong about that too.)
Person B points out the unrelated topic. Attempts to bring back person A to original topic.
Person A may, at this point, impugn person B's intelligence, mental health, lifestyle- or all of the above.
Person B may either 1. impugn person A's intelligence, mental health or lifestyle- or all of the above, 2. attempt to take the high road and get the "discussion" back on track, or 3. walk away.
Year and year after year I've seen the same thing and it's so fucking boring I find it impossible to waste my life on it. But your mileage may differ. But don't tell me I have to waste my life on idiots who will never change- because I will never, ever agree with you on that.
