Yes, that is correct, which is why the Republicans are doing everything to stop Biden's 3.5 trillion package.

There is an irony to your post. What you want with your smaller package is exactly what Obama did and it crushed the Democratic party!!

If Obama had done the big stimulus package the progressives had wanted in 2009, we probably would not have been massacred like we were in 2010.

Call it the FDR package.

The smaller the package the more the Republicans will like it, so the moderate Democrats are playing right into the hands of the Republicans.

But Obama did. Although he ran to the left of Hillary (another irony) to get elected, he immediately upon being elected moved to the center and embraced the moderates AND the Republicans in his Quixotic attempt to bring the country together i.e. no red or blue America.

And he kept the progressives and Democratic party at arms length.

The Republicans and the moderates wanted a much SMALLER stimulus in 2009, and so he did that and the result is what you just said: we did not do enough for the people and got crushed.

As mentioned, that is why the Democrats did not get the support FDR did. The people did NOT see what we had done for them as nothing stood out and the recovery was too long.

And that is why Biden is trying to stick to the 3.5 trillion.
