Greg,

Re: "Yousef, Then if Intel buys the dec alpha fab its' a good deal for
Intel? explain please."

I would be happy to explain ... Intel for 700M$ will get a Fab that they
will sell the existing equipment and then purchase equipment to do a
"copy exactly" of their .25um process. This allows Intel to bring on .25um capacity
faster than building a new Fab. Not only does Intel get a Fab for
their money, they also get a staff of trained personnel and some very
good process development engineers.

Compaq on the other hand ... if Comapq buys the Fab, they only have the Alpha
product to run in that Fab. No Pentium II ... just a poor selling Alpha.
Doesn't make much financial sense ... DEC was losing money "big time" on
that Fab.

Does that help, Greg.

Make It So,
Yousef
