| News recently re Newfoundland's primary Copper Play:
Not just about the gold, NL has iron (with gold in it) and recently discovered lithium pegmatites (with gold nearby)... and, also, good potential for not just commercial scale but kilometers long trends hosting district scale deposits of zinc and lead (with silver in it - Sterling Metals)... and, now, perhaps add copper (with gold in it) to that list ?

Zonte Metals is an explorer that's already on the list here... with two property groups in Newfoundland...

Interestingly, unlike most of the companies considered here, Zonte is not a newcomer to Newfoundland... and is one of the few that has its own page on Silicon Investor... which has an intro page that provides some additional useful insight into both of the two Newfoundland properties, as well as some of the history of Zonte's involvement with other projects...

They have a smaller 3900 hectare property focused on a potential for Carlin style gold deposits near the north east end of the same trend that hosts New Found Gold... the Wings Point Gold Project... in which they've done some soil sampling and completed four grids of IP studies... and report a historic sample taken from the claims by Noranda that reported 59 grams/ton gold in till. Apparently Barrick also had an interest in the property at some point...

The IOCG type copper play is quite a bit larger... with a 25 km strike length along the Cross Hills Lineament, a trend contained in their Cross Hills Property... on which they have, thus far, identified eight distinct target zones using geophysics paired with significant effort in ground truthing on a number of them...

The overview level of the project details for all of their project are on the company's website, contained in a company presentation from April 2021.

Only one of the target zone properties of the eight on the Cross Hills trend (Dunn's Mountain) appears it has been previously drilled, and while it reportedly "intersected both high-grade copper, gold and silver values over narrow intervals and anomalous copper values over long intervals"... it is not a part of the current preparation for drill testing additional targets. The pattern in distribution reported for the prior drilling should sound familiar to those following the sequences in events in discovery of the gold potentials along the Appleton fault zone... suggesting the discovery and mapping of the structural elements controlling deposition patterns along the Cross Hills trend likely needs some deeper consideration than is typical in order to better assist in directing drills to test the right spots...

News dated September 23 primarily addresses soil sampling at K9, one of the eight Cross Hills targets, and one of the four they are planning to test with the drill, the PR also announcing they're addressing those four of the eight target areas with IP to help develop drill sites. And then, rather oddly, the PR moves on to focus more attention on the four sites they're not preparing for drill testing than the four they are.:

Zonte Metals discovers a large copper-in soil-anomaly at the K9 target and prepares four targets for drilling
