As far as the ethnic slaughter and civil rights and democracy, and world wars, it was our increasing intelligence that got women the right to vote, and emancipated, and legal racism abolished, and civil rights established.
When has there not been ethnic slaughter or wars? Less today than ever I would argue.
And as far as wars go, look at how Europe went from two world wars to the EU with unguarded borders.
And the conversion of so many dictatorships like Japan, Germany, South Korea, Italy, etc to thriving democracies.
Only education and advanced abstract thinking could effect that.
And as well, where was the existentialism before the last century?
No where, as few people could understand it until the last 100 years and now it's understanding is common.
Today Sartre would be ho hum, as well as our founding fathers where many college kids are smarter.
