Your position seems to be conjectural - kind of like blaming AIDS on air travel - and while there is a rational component of air travel to all modern disease transmission, to select air travel as the only cause seems like blaming the wrong thing. There is every reason to believe that human-tainted frozen food products shipped from China would have eventually gotten it here albeit with more delay. Airlines sped it but because there is no immunity, the absence of airlines would not have contained it.

We could go back to agrarian lifestyles and still not be immune to diseases - the Black Death didn't need airplanes - there are some anomalies with the Black Death which seems to have traveled so fast in England it is hard to imagine it was just rats, fleas or people - tens of miles a day in some cases. While it could have been vermin on people on horseback - epidemiologist have struggled with the sheer mechanics of it. We don't know that pigeons weren't complicit.
