Hong Kong should declare independence. The lease was an artifact of the 19th century. The lease and acquisition of Hong Kong Island have been superseded by geopolitical reality. Neither UK nor the CCP nor KMT/Taiwan have valid claim to Hong Kong people none of whom were alive when Queen Victoria took over. Similarly for Taiwan which does not have a valid claim to take over China that's run by Emperor Pooh Xi. The 19th and 20th centuries are finished. It's time to adapt to 2021 realities of who has been born where and to replace bygone times. Mqurice
