Back in the day I was a "nerd" as well. Got a Datsun (not Nissan) 240Z model kit car. At least 200 maybe 300 pieces, real rubber tires, steering wheel and suspension that really moved. Had to paint body panels. Took weeks to complete wanting to not screw up anything.

It was a sign of things to come. Years later the second new car I bought, after an Audi, was a 300 ZX. Turbo of course, T-Tops the works.
