OT: >margin debt is quite healthy and a non-issue.<

I can tell you've never had a margin call.

Margin debt is a never an issue, until wherever you have your investments changes their rules, and makes a margin call on your account.

Even if it is not your account, even if you are smart enough to avoid a margin call every day of your life, not everyone is that smart.

In fact the number of new investors in the stock market who have never even experienced a bear market are the real reason we all should fear their margin calls.

When it happens the market will implode in large part due to margin debt.

I believe we share information to help other people here make and keep their investment dollars. Acting like margin debt is no issue is incorrect.

It is currently not an issue.

But one day margin calls will once again be a huge issue. The higher the total margin debt the bigger risk it is to all investors who are long investments.
