Talk of war strengthens gold.

Strachan said renewed tensions in the Middle East again attracted investors' attention to gold and away from oil. The oil and
gas sector dropped 0.38 percent, while the metals and minerals group dropped 1.9 percent.

''We're certainly seeing more people switch out of oil after a quick run,'' he said. ''There's a magnetic-like attraction to gold
whenever world war is mentioned.''
